Purpose of Master Database in SqlServer.
In general all of us knows only the master database as a system database, but all should know about the purpose of the master database.
The real purpose of master database is for the
sql server which maintain itself.
The master database
contains all the account information
which are used for login purpose in sql server.
The master database only
contains all the sql server system level database configurations.
The master database is the most important database from all. We should have the master database backup for emergency.
User or Admin only take care of taking backup for master database.
Master database don’t need to take backup frequently in a specific time interval.
Master database should take back up in the following cases.
? If any changes occurs in server level configurations,
? If any changes in database level configuration settings,
? If any changes in login account information.
In most of the training institutes they use the master database as like a user created databases. They create testing tables and stored procedures inside the master database.
Users shouldn’t modify
or create any new table, view or stored procedures inside the master database.
