Checking dates in msaccess

HI Friends,
i am creating a web applications with msaccess as a back end. when users post any ads on my site as free his account gets expired on the date one month after the date of register. for that when user gets register i takes current date and add 30 days in it which will be expired date. Now i want to display the expired posts for that i want to compare the current date with expired date field in database.I have used text datatype for the expireddate field because i want to display the customized date (02-June-2009). how to compare the date so that i can display expired ads.

Select * from yourtable where CDATE(yourstringDatecolumn)=#datetoCompare#
