Few moments with Jeya Kumar - DotNetSpider MVM

Posted Date: 19 May 2009      Posted By: Raghav      Member Level: Gold     Points: 1   Responses: 17

Hello DNS'ians,

Jeya Kumar is the senior Diamond member who joined DNS on 16th June, 2006. He is currently working as Senior Software Enginner at L&T Infotech. Jeya Kumar was awarded with DotNetSpider MVM award recently in April, 2009.

We had an interview with him to get his views on DotNetSpider and his message to DotNetSpider members. Here is the interview we had with him.

Please tell us about yourself?

I had Completed my under graduation from E.G.S.P Arts & Science college and then I worked as a Faculty in SSI (Nagapattinam, My Native) and then Completed my under Post graduation (M.C.A) in Annamalai University (Chidambaram, T.N, India). Again resumed my career in Chennai as a faculty. Later Joined as a Programmer in MeteXim Technologies. Now working as Senior Software Engineer in LNT InfoTech. I would like to share my knowledge and gain knowledge from Others. I am interested in R & D work. I like Bike Riding.

How did you get into DotNetSpider community?

When I was searching for a question in google. I found DotNet Spider and after that I am busy with my project work and I completely forgotten DotNetSpider. When I worked in my previous project I had some problem in finding Embedded link in Excel. So I posted my question over here and it was not answered!!! The only question that I asked in Dot Net Spider. I had answered some question and from there journey with DotNetSpider continue…..

What motivated you to contribute in DotNetSpider?

One of thing that motivated me to contribute was MVP off course many people will have. Once I joined here I saw many Answers, articles with good quality. I answered many questions and when people say thanks to me and I am happy and it helped me a lot to study and improve my quality of posting. Later I realized that helping people and resolving technical issues is a challenging task and I like challenges. Once I recognized and it motivated me a lot…

How much time do you spend on Technical communities to help others?

Even in my busy project schedule. I spend some time with technical community. I had contributed even through mails and who posted through Personal message. On the average I will spend 3-4 hours to learn and helping others in technical community..

How are you balancing your Work life with your contribution in Technical Communities?

Sometimes it is bit tough to handle both at the same time. In such time I tried my level best to contribute to technical community. If I had time in home on weekends I will help technical community or prepare some technical resources…in Office Some issues which is not solved in time or at Deliverable time we cannot turn around our head.

Please share with us your journey of becoming an DNS-MVM?

It is very happy to be here. I came a long way but still I need to go a long way. Through DNS I learned a lot and I need to learn a lot from other DNS members. Many times I had seen that each people will give different answers for the same questions and most of the times I will try it out. So for a Problem they are many ways to solve it. So think in that manner it will help you a lot. It is not an advice it is request to everyone who wants to grow. I came to DNS for an answer!!!! That is my turning point of my life I realized the value of Supporting a technical forum and then I started posting answers in forum and posted resources, Interview questions etc.,. It helped me a lot in my projects also. I hope everyone will try to get MVM in the coming years.

Few words about DotNetSpider?

One of the Best Forum that I have seen. I thank Everyone who supported me. Day by Day DNS is improving a lot. Since I joined many new things came like Community sites and many.

What are your career goals?

It would like continue my journey in Microsoft Technologies as long as I can. I planned to do Doctorate as it is my father’s wish. I am Working hard to get a MVP. I want to be part of one of the Microsoft product.

Best moment in DotNetSpider tenure?

My First Award for DNS at the very first Week when I started answering the DNS forum. (Editor’s Choice and as well as Weekly Winner) and off course MVM.

Any message to technologists and suggestions to make DotNetSpider as World's number one Technical Site?

Now a day’s clients are too tough to handle. We need to work very smart and hard in order to satisfy them to get more projects in future.. For the past 5 months I worked on all the days (includes Saturdays and Sundays except some weekends On December 8th I got married). We need to handle things in a smart manner to survive in current market. Whatever you will do dedication should be there. UI needs to be improved and post back should be minimal we can have the response in a pop up. Every DNS member should cooperate to improve DNS as world number one Technical Site…

Hope this interview will be useful to all members. we will be publishing interviews with other members too.

Thank you

Raghav
Web Master
